Kundalini Yoga for Beginners - Class Structure

As a Kundalini Newbie, not knowing what to expect in a class could be keeping you from experiencing the magic and healing that you need to feel better and to take that next step on your self-empowerment journey.

So let me share the structure of a Kundalini Yoga class with you so you can feel confident and at ease when you decide to sign up for a class.

  • You’ll start off by sitting on your mat. The teacher will welcome you and maybe share a little bit about the class and what to expect and maybe even share a golden nugget to get the most out of class.

  • Then you’ll Tune In. Usually you’ll tune in with a mantra like Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo. But don’t worry if you don’t know the chant in the beginning. You can hum along or just stay silent.

  • You’ll be guided through a few warm ups. If you want to know what those are, you can check out the video I did with a warm up series here: CLICK HERE FOR WARM UP VIDEO

  • And then you’ll start with the kriya. What’s a kriya? A kriya is a sequence of postures aka asanas. Depending on the theme of the class you might stay sitting, move onto your hands and knees or come standing. You might switch between movement and stillness.

  • And after that, you’ll come lying down for your deep relaxation followed by a short meditation.
Or, sometimes, you’ll meditate first and then relax. And somewhere in the class you’ll also do some breathwork aka yogic breathing.

  • And to end class, the teacher will guide you with their closing process.

Now you know the basic structure of a Kundalini Yoga class.

Oh, one more thing!

It’s totally normal to be nervous about trying something new or going somewhere new, so don’t be too hard on yourself for that..

But I promise you, when you do get up your courage and go to a class, you’re going to feel awesome afterwards and so glad that you signed up!

I hope that this helps to ease some of your worries and I hope to see you in a class soon.

Note: If you're still a little nervous, I have a class especially for Beginners. Check it out here
